Senior Cost Accountant

Location: Maryland, on-site

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000

Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Build People is representing a global, family-owned manufacturer with over a century of operating history in the US and distribution worldwide. They are hiring a Senior Cost Accountant to own cost accounting methods, reporting and analysis across the business.

What you will do

• Conduct cost analysis to identify and evaluate cost saving opportunities
• Analyze production costs, variances and performance against targets
• Partner with cross functional teams on budgets and forecasts
• Monitor and report on variances with clear explanations and recommendations
• Prepare timely and accurate cost accounting reports, and present findings and KPIs to management
• Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation
• Identify and implement process improvements across the cost accounting function
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and support internal and external audits
• Develop cost estimates for new products and evaluate the profitability impact of cost changes
• Work with operations and procurement to gather information and provide financial insight for decision making

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
• 4 to 7 years of progressive cost accounting experience, ideally including a senior role
• Strong grounding in accounting principles and cost accounting methodology
• Proficient in standard costing, inventory valuation and variance analysis
• Advanced Excel, plus experience with an ERP or accounting system
• Manufacturing or multi entity experience preferred
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
