Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Superintendent to oversee the construction of commercial and municipal wastewater projects (e.g., treatment plants, lift stations, pipelines) in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in managing wastewater systems for projects valued at $15M–$75M, ensuring compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) standards, DWU regulations, and OSHA safety protocols. This role requires hands-on leadership, technical proficiency in wastewater processes, and collaboration with project teams to deliver high-quality, on-time results in Dallas’s fast-growing infrastructure market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations on wastewater construction sites, including treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, and pipeline installations for commercial and municipal clients.
- Supervise subcontractors (e.g., mechanical, piping, electrical, concrete) to ensure quality installation of wastewater systems (e.g., aeration basins, clarifiers, disinfection units).
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and owners to execute schedules, resolve RFIs, and manage change orders using tools like Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6.
- Conduct rigorous inspections to enforce TCEQ compliance, DWU standards, and OSHA safety requirements, including confined space entry and hazardous material handling.
- Oversee material procurement, equipment installation (e.g., pumps, valves, SCADA systems), and system commissioning for wastewater facilities.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, safety reports, and documentation for TCEQ inspections and client audits.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies for Dallas’s challenging soil conditions, flood zones, and high groundwater tables.
- Mentor field staff and coordinate with A&P’s preconstruction team to optimize wastewater planning and constructability.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction, with at least 7 years specializing in wastewater infrastructure (e.g., treatment plants, lift stations, pipelines).
- 5+ years as a Superintendent leading wastewater projects valued at $15M+.
- Proven track record managing at least 2 wastewater treatment or lift station projects in Texas, with knowledge of TCEQ, DWU, and NTMWD requirements.
- Expertise in wastewater processes (e.g., biological treatment, sludge handling, odor control) and related systems (e.g., mechanical piping, instrumentation).
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid) and scheduling tools.
- OSHA 30 certification required; Confined Space, HAZWOPER, or TCEQ wastewater operator license preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
- Established relationships with Dallas-area wastewater subcontractors and suppliers preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with design-build or CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) delivery for wastewater projects.
- Familiarity with sustainable wastewater practices (e.g., water reuse, energy-efficient aeration).
- Ability to use BIM for coordination of complex underground utilities and clash detection.
- Background in fast-track wastewater projects with stringent TCEQ deadlines.
