We are seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee the field operations of a $20M school expansion project at Florida International University (FIU) in North Miami. This role is ideal for a superintendent with a strong background in institutional or public-sector construction, such as schools, fire stations, municipal buildings, or similar facilities.
Position Overview
The Lead Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day on-site execution of the project, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with contract documents, codes, and institutional requirements. This individual will serve as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, inspections, schedules, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through closeout
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, inspectors, and trade partners
- Maintain the project schedule and enforce sequencing of work
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety plans
- Coordinate inspections with AHJs, school district representatives, and institutional stakeholders
- Oversee quality control, punch list completion, and final turnover
- Maintain daily logs, reports, and site documentation
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to manage scope, logistics, and field execution
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial or institutional construction
- Proven experience on schools, fire stations, municipal, or public-sector projects
- Strong understanding of building codes, inspections, and institutional standards
- Ability to lead field teams and subcontractors effectively
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
