Description:
A leading national construction management firm is seeking a General Superintendent to oversee field operations for large-scale healthcare construction projects in Southwest Florida, with budgets up to $100M. This is a full-time, on-site position that plays a key leadership role within the project team.
About the Role:
The General Superintendent will manage daily on-site operations, coordinate subcontractors, enforce safety standards, and ensure project milestones and quality benchmarks are met. Ideal candidates will bring extensive experience in healthcare construction, as well as other complex commercial builds such as multifamily and mid- to high-rise developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate all on-site construction activities
- Maintain project schedules and budgets for general conditions and site services
- Enforce and promote job site safety protocols
- Resolve field-related issues and oversee subcontractor performance
- Plan and manage logistics, inspections, tie-ins, shutdowns, and daily reporting
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and communicate project changes and progress
- Mentor and manage field engineers and junior superintendents
- Contribute to project planning and preconstruction activities
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality, safety, and schedule goals are achieved
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- 10–15 years of experience on commercial/industrial projects valued at $100M
- Proven experience leading large-scale healthcare construction projects
- OSHA 30 certification required; STS-C, First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications preferred
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of healthcare facility requirements and regulatory compliance
- Deep knowledge of construction documents, scheduling, logistics, and field operations
- Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Familiarity with Pull Planning and Lean Construction methods
