Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Estimator to lead cost estimation for structural components on high-value construction projects, including hospitals and large, complex high-rise buildings, in South Florida. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in developing accurate, competitive bids for multi hundred million-dollar projects, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with project specifications. This role requires close collaboration with project teams, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to deliver precise structural estimates in South Florida’s competitive construction market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead structural cost estimation for high-value projects ($100M+), such as hospitals and complex high-rise buildings (20+ floors), from conceptual design through construction documents.
• Perform detailed takeoffs and cost analyses for structural systems, including concrete, steel, masonry, and foundation work, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
• Collaborate with project executives, structural engineers, architects, and subcontractors to develop value engineering solutions and optimize structural budgets.
• Prepare comprehensive bid packages, including scope sheets, qualifications, and exclusions, for structural subcontractors and material suppliers.
• Utilize advanced estimating software (e.g., Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Tekla) to streamline takeoffs, cost modeling, and bid preparation.
• Review project plans, structural drawings, and specifications to identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and constructability issues.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Provide detailed cost data and reports to project teams and senior leadership, supporting preconstruction planning and client presentations.
• Ensure compliance with Broward / Miami Dade / Palm Beach County building codes, ACI (American Concrete Institute) standards, AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) guidelines, and other relevant regulations.
• Mentor junior estimators, fostering a culture of precision, collaboration, and excellence within the estimating team.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in structural estimating for a general contractor, with at least 5 years on high-value projects (e.g., hospitals, complex high-rise buildings, $100M+).
• Experience estimating structural systems for at least 3 projects valued at $100 million or more, including hospital or large high-rise construction (20+ floors).
• Proven expertise in structural systems, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, post-tensioned slabs, and deep foundation systems (e.g., piles, caissons).
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Tekla) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong knowledge of Broward / Miami Dade / Palm Beach County building codes, ACI, AISC, and other structural engineering standards.
• Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and client satisfaction.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Certifications such as CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) or SE (Structural Engineer) preferred; Florida PE license a plus.
• Established relationships with South Florida structural subcontractors and material suppliers preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience estimating structural systems for mission-critical facilities (e.g., hospitals with seismic requirements, high-rise, or luxury condominiums).
• Familiarity with sustainable structural design and certifications (e.g., LEED, Envision).
• Proven ability to deliver competitive bids for high-profile clients in South Florida’s healthcare or high-rise residential sectors.
• Expertise in navigating South Florida’s permitting and regulatory processes for complex projects.
