Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent with expertise in retail new build and fit out. As a Construction Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the successful completion of construction projects from inception to final delivery. Your extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in these specific areas will be vital in ensuring the timely and cost-effective execution of projects, while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to define project goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including construction schedules, resource allocation, and procurement strategies.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and regulations.
- Oversee and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and construction crews, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project milestones.
- Site Management and Quality Control:
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations to create a safe working environment.
- Maintain high standards of quality control and ensure adherence to project specifications and design intent.
- Review and approve construction documentation, including shop drawings, material submittals, and project-related documentation.
- Team Coordination and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, designers, and other project stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and successful project outcomes.
- Provide clear and effective communication channels to all project team members, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Conduct regular meetings with the project team to review progress, resolve issues, and make decisions promptly.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and problem-solving among project team members.
- Budget and Cost Control:
- Monitor project budgets, cost estimates, and expenditures, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions without compromising quality.
- Review and approve invoices, change orders, and payment applications from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare regular progress reports, including cost tracking, to keep project stakeholders informed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent, overseeing office fit out, commercial new build, and restaurant projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, codes, and regulations related to these specific project types.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse teams.
- Solid understanding of project management principles, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
