We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator with experience of commercial construction projects. As a Construction Estimator, you will play a crucial role in determining accurate and competitive cost estimates for various construction activities, ensuring the successful execution of the projects.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs, using industry-standard methods and tools.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather information and identify potential challenges or opportunities that may impact project costs.
- Evaluate and compare vendor and subcontractor bids to select the most competitive and reliable options.
- Review and analyze historical data, project records, and industry benchmarks to support accurate cost estimation and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate with the project management team to develop detailed project budgets and cost breakdowns.
- Collaborate with procurement personnel to obtain competitive pricing for materials, equipment, and services.
- Prepare and present cost estimates, reports, and supporting documentation to stakeholders, including clients, management, and project teams.
- Assist in value engineering efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and design intent.
- Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction process, identifying deviations from the estimated budget and providing timely reports to project stakeholders.
- Participate in bid evaluations, negotiations, and subcontractor selection processes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, construction methodologies, and material costs to ensure accurate and up-to-date estimation practices.
- Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all estimating activities.
Key Skills & Experience required for the position include:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, preferably commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, methodologies, and materials.
- Proficiency in using construction estimating software and tools.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret complex construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Solid organizational and time management abilities to meet project deadlines.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and permit processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
